What Should You Do to Keep Your Skin Hydrated?

Hydration is the key to achieve a glowing “glass skin”. A layer of moisturizer is not enough to keep the skin hydrated. Read on to find out the steps that you should take to achieve the healthy and glowing skin that you wanted!

1. Pick the Right Moisturizer
Before picking a moisturizer, it is important to know your skin type. There are 5 different skin types – dry, oily, combination, sensitive or normal skin. It is vital to choose the right moisturizer so that your skin can absorb any formula you have used.

For example, if you have dry skin, you might want to use a thicker cream as a moisturizer. This is because it prevents hydration from being lost due to the surrounding environment.

Or, if you have a sensitive skin type, you might want to avoid ingredients like alcohol and fragrance as it can irritate your skin while leaving redness (1).

2. Invest in a Facial Spray
If you are working in an air-conditioned room, you might want to invest in a facial spray. Ingredients like hyaluronic acid and glycerin will help to attract water to your skin and restore the hydration you have lost (2). Additionally, using facial spray is convenient and refreshing to the skin.

3. Apply Sunscreen
Sunscreen is important in your everyday routine. If you are not wearing one, you should start the habit of applying it daily. Sunscreen can help to protect your skin from sunlight and to regenerate your skin.

The other layers of skincare will go to waste if you do not wear sunscreen as sunscreen allows the skin to properly absorb other skincare formulas.

4. Use Sheet Mask
It is always a good idea to use a sheet mask once or twice a week. Different sheet masks are available in the market for different skin concerns.

If you find that you do not have the time to apply sheet masks, you may use it before bedtime as it only takes about 20 to 30 minutes for the ingredients to absorb into your skin. Do not use the mask on your face longer than it is recommended to as it can absorb hydration from your skin and make your skin even dryer.

It is important to hydrate your skin to keep your face clean and glowing. All you need to do is to change your lifestyle and have a fixed skincare routine.
